Get in TouchHosting migrations and platform transfers across New Zealand
Done wrong, a website migration means downtime, broken functionality, and lost search rankings. Done right, it is seamless, your site moves without visitors or search engines noticing. Every migration we run includes full pre-flight testing, backup verification, and a rollback plan before any DNS change is made.
Migration is included free with all new hosting plans. Available as a standalone service for businesses moving between providers. All migrations include post-transfer testing and a handover summary.
We migrate websites across platforms and hosting environments. Each migration type has its own technical considerations, we handle them all.
Host-to-host WordPress migrations including files, database, wp-config.php updates, serialised data corrections, and DNS cutover. WooCommerce migrations include order data, customer records, and product images. We also handle WordPress multisite migrations and domain changes.
WordPress Hosting →Full Joomla migrations including core files, extension libraries, template files, database, and configuration. PHP version alignment at the destination server is verified before cutover. Extension paths and database prefix configuration are updated as part of the process.
Joomla Hosting →Magento migrations require careful handling of the full technology stack, Nginx, Redis, Varnish, and Elasticsearch configuration at the destination. We provision the destination environment to Magento's requirements before migration begins and run full functional testing before cutover.
Laravel applications often have environment-specific dependencies, queue configurations, and third-party API keys that require careful handling during server migration. We migrate application code, database, environment variables, queue worker processes, and scheduled tasks, fully tested before DNS switch.
Platform migrations from Wix or Squarespace to WordPress involve content export, structure rebuilding, URL mapping, and redirect configuration. We rebuild the site on WordPress with clean semantic HTML, preserve as much content structure as possible, and implement full redirect maps to protect SEO value from the outgoing platform.
Moving from shared hosting to Cloud VPS, upgrading server specifications, or restructuring from a single-server setup to a multi-tier environment. We handle the transition with the same structured process, staging, testing, cutover, verification.
Search rankings built up over months or years can be damaged by a poorly executed migration. The most common causes are broken URL structures, missing redirects, dropped HTTPS enforcement, lost structured data, and crawl errors triggered by configuration changes. We take a structured approach to protect search performance through every migration.
Before migration begins, we document the existing URL structure, crawl the site to identify indexed pages, and map any URL changes to correct 301 redirects. After migration, we verify redirect chains, confirm canonical tags, resubmit the sitemap to Google Search Console, and monitor crawl behaviour for any unexpected drops. For sites where search performance is a significant business asset, our technical SEO services can run a pre-and-post migration audit as part of the process.
Every migration starts with a full verified backup of the source environment. We do not begin any transfer until we have a clean, restorable snapshot of your site in its current state. This backup is held throughout the migration process and only retired once the new environment is confirmed stable.
During migration, source site access credentials, database passwords, and API keys are handled securely and not stored beyond the immediate migration scope. Destination server credentials are provisioned with minimum required access and updated once migration is complete. A rollback plan is documented before any DNS change is made, if something unexpected occurs during cutover, we can revert to the original environment within minutes.
Migration is not just copying files. It is a technical process that requires platform knowledge, server configuration experience, and careful SEO management.
We migrate platforms we know well, WordPress, Joomla, Magento, Laravel. Each platform has its own migration quirks, configuration dependencies, and testing requirements. We handle them correctly from experience, not guesswork.
We use a staging-first approach on all migrations. Your site runs fully on the new server and passes functional testing before the DNS record is changed. DNS cutover is scheduled at low-traffic times where possible and completed in minutes.
We document, map, and protect your URL structure and search signals throughout the migration. Redirects, canonicals, sitemaps, and Search Console are all addressed as part of the process, not as an afterthought.
After migration, we test forms, checkout flows, media, redirects, admin access, email sending, and any integration that your site depends on. You receive a written handover summary confirming what was done and what was tested.
Migration is a transition point, not a handoff. After your site is live on the new environment, ongoing hosting management, platform support, and development services are available to keep it maintained and performing well.
We work from New Zealand, in your timezone, and can schedule migrations around your business hours. No offshore handoffs, no support ticket queues, no time-zone delays when something needs attention during cutover.
Our Work

Get in TouchNo, if the migration is handled correctly. We use a staging-first process, your site is fully replicated and tested on the new server before any DNS change is made. The DNS cutover itself takes minutes and is scheduled for a low-traffic period. During DNS propagation (typically 1–4 hours), some visitors may still reach the old server, but both environments are live and functional throughout the process.
A host-to-host migration with no URL changes should have minimal to no SEO impact when executed correctly. The main risks are: missing HTTPS enforcement on the new server, broken redirects, crawl errors, or server downtime during cutover. We address all of these systematically. Platform migrations involving URL structure changes require full redirect mapping, we handle this as part of the migration process. For complex migrations, our technical SEO services can run a pre-and-post migration audit.
For a straightforward WordPress or Joomla host-to-host migration, preparation and staging typically takes 24–48 hours. DNS cutover and final testing add a few hours. Complex migrations, Magento, Laravel applications, or platform migrations from Wix or Squarespace, take longer due to environment provisioning and content restructuring. We provide a timeline estimate before starting.
Yes. We can usually identify your current hosting provider from your domain's DNS records and contact them on your behalf to obtain access credentials or request a backup. Most reputable hosts provide file access via FTP/SFTP or a cPanel backup export. If your previous host is uncooperative, we can work from a locally downloaded backup of your site files and database instead.
Yes. Migration to our servers is included at no additional cost with all WordPress, Joomla, and Cloud VPS hosting plans. Migration as a standalone service, moving your site between third-party providers without joining our hosting, is available at a separate fee. Get in touch to discuss your specific situation.
